- Abstract:
- The Reading 1 student book is composed of a variety of open educational resources (OERs) and materials that were created by Prof. Harkins and Prof. Muyesser. We have adapted the content to meet the needs of our program. Each unit introduces a vocabulary and reading skill and provides exercises for students to practice those skills. The last unit introduces the importance of reading, fiction-non fiction texts and different types of genres. We wanted students to build their vocabulary and reading skills before they were introduced to more advanced topics and readings. Hopefully, you will find the student book easy to use and creatively and effectively designed for your students. Though we think you have enough materials in each unit, in this manual, you will find extra resources that you can use to enhance your lessons or provide additional materials to cover more. In addition to extra resources, you will also find a vocabulary and a reading test for each chapter. There is no cumulative final exam. Their final reading and vocabulary Unit 5 tests will be their final tests.
We hope you find this book easy to use and that you enjoy teaching with the materials designed to meet the needs of your students in Reading I. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact the program chair.
