- Abstract:
- This Guide is to assist those who are in Professor Lipton's U.S. History 221 class. This class covers American History until the end of the Civil War. Included in this course will be a study of Native American culture from the Pre-Columbian Mound Builders (e.g., Adena, Hopewellian, Mississippian, etc.), as well as subsequent Native American history. It will include European American culture and African American culture and other voluntary and involuntary migrations. The class will cover how these divergent groups interacted with each other in the founding the United States.
The topic you research must be of a controversial nature and hopefully this guide will help you find and tweak your topic. Remember, topics are fluid in nature and not set in stone.
The Guide will show you how to find the different sources he requires (Scholary/Peer- Reviewed articles, Primary Sources, Books, E-Books). And also how to go about citing sources in Chicago Style. Should you need further help, please ask on of our friendly, helpful librarians!
